This is one of the David vs Goliath stories, little school comes up against the big school and little guy whips boy guy.
I always like the underdogs when they can fight to the top and show the big guys that they can play ball also.

I covered the Utah State Utah Valley University basketball game a few nights ago, I always like shooting instate games for the very reason that both teams go all out for the win.

Wind Storm Cleanup

We had a really bad wind storm hit areas along the Wasatch front a week or so back these photos are of the clean up.
It's always so cool to see how people band together to get a task done after an emergency like this.
People sometimes make me mad, but it's times like these that really make me smile as I observe.

Zoo Lights

Some may not like this but it caught my eye tonight as I was wandering the zoo. They have been lighting the grounds for a few years now and it keeps getting better.
Also had a great time walking around with my family.

Elk

These are not even close to being really great images of an Elk but it's the best I could get with a 70-200 with a 1.4 extender on shooting from a helicopter. We didn't want to stress him out so we only made one loop around him and even with that he jumped and ran about 100 feet away from his bedding spot. I love seeing wildlife in their natural places.

Today was an interesting day for me, I had a morning assignment at the Festival of Trees and just as I was walking out of that got a call sending me to a Trax train vs a mini van, after sending in those I got another call sending me to the helicopter hanger to got shoot an accident up near strawberry res. where an oil tanker had crashed and was burning. So here are a few from the day.

This was a fun game tied at the end of regulation and down to a last ditch dive coming up short in overtime. Fremont defeated Syracuse to move onto the championship game.

Utah Natural History Museum

I was sent up to get some photos of the new Natural History Museum up at research park.
We have needed a new facility for many years and this place is amazing.
I completely enjoyed myself walking around and seeing what they have been able to do.

Last Saturday three young girls from Utah County were taking photos near the railroad tracks when two trains passed hitting and killing two of them. These are such sad stories and it's very hard to cover them.

Well, I guess it had to come. The first snow fall of the season, I have to tell the truth I'm really not excited about the cold and snow this year.

BYU, Utah State

BYU and Utah State battled it out for most of the first half and a bit into the third quarter, then BYU changed QB's and is was the Riley Nelsen show, run, pass, run, run.
So much more exciting than little dump passes no mobility. BYU had to come back from behind and won it on a lucky tipped ball catch in the back of the end zone.

Parker Holt is a young man at West Lake High School, he runs on the cross country team and has some great friends.
Several of them have learned to sign so they can help him know what is going on and to know what the coaches are saying.
He also has an interpreter that is assigned to help him.
This was one of those fun feel good stories.

Search for a missing elderly man

An elderly man went for a walk with his dog and later that night or the next day the dog came home without him, he was later found in the river. It's so sad covering these kinds of stories.

I love to see the American Flag flying in the wind, it's so beautiful to me to watch the waves of the fabric as it blows. American flag blowing in the wind at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City. Saturday I covered the annual Children's Youth Parade for the Days of 47 celebration and members of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets carried a large flag down the middle of the street it was beautiful.

New sign

After many months there is finally a sign marking where we work. We've been at the Triad Center for 6-7 months now and we finally have our sign.
Mike Terry and I were tasked at getting photos of the installation process, Mike's shift ended so I took over for the rest of the afternoon. It was fun getting up in the cherry picker over 120 feet in the air for some cool angles.

Midvale Crime

Last night was interesting, I was sent to Midvale to cover a stabbing at a Smoke shop. The clerk had been attacked by a woman carrying a knife. She stabbed him in the chest and another customer helped the clerk hold her down until the police arrived. After leaving that I only drove about a half mile away and came across this.
An officer had seen this guy and knew that he had warrants, the guy ran into an apartment building and barricaded himself and three four others inside. The Guys wasn't wanted for anything huge according to Police but he had several warrants. And then to run from a Police officer just made things worse. Any way here are a few from the second scene.

We took out kids down south to Zion National park for a few days. I'm sad to say that I've lived in Utah all my life and have never been to this park, I will be returning.
One of our little family is just about five and isn't really able to make the big hikes but he did so good for most of the trip.

I've wanted to go shoot photos in this park for years and just haven't made the time, I plan on breaking out the 4x5 and getting serious again about some nature work.

I was at my church last night and just before sunset I noticed some deer feeding on the mountain behind the church, they were sky lined and looked kinda cool so I went to get my camera and as you would guess the ones that I first saw were gone.
