Socked in

The Wasatch front was covered in crappy air last week, I went up on south mountain to get a breath of fresh air.

fire

Not that I'm happy when something like this happens but it's very exciting and a big change of pace from what sometimes gets ordinary in covering news.

Ice Cold

We did a story on lack of snow and amounts of water in the streams and rivers.
I had to go get some quick photos of ice snow and water or at least get the best I could in a short window of time.

Red-tailed Hawk and Jet

I was covering a story in Ogden the other day and looked up just in time to see this Red-tailed Hawk just about to cross paths with a passenger jet flying higher up.

Woods Cross vs Layton

Shot the Woods Cross vs Layton game last week great game with Woods Cross winning by one point 53-52.
These are the best to cover, all sorts of emotions running around.

Smog in the mountains

I was flying with KSL in their chopper a couple days ago and we shot a few images of the inversion that has set in along the Wasatch Front.

South Sevier beats Fremont

This is one of the David vs Goliath stories, little school comes up against the big school and little guy whips boy guy.
I always like the underdogs when they can fight to the top and show the big guys that they can play ball also.

Utah State vs Utah Valley University

I covered the Utah State Utah Valley University basketball game a few nights ago, I always like shooting instate games for the very reason that both teams go all out for the win.

Wind Storm Cleanup

We had a really bad wind storm hit areas along the Wasatch front a week or so back these photos are of the clean up.
It's always so cool to see how people band together to get a task done after an emergency like this.
People sometimes make me mad, but it's times like these that really make me smile as I observe.

Zoo Lights

Some may not like this but it caught my eye tonight as I was wandering the zoo. They have been lighting the grounds for a few years now and it keeps getting better.
Also had a great time walking around with my family.

Elk

These are not even close to being really great images of an Elk but it's the best I could get with a 70-200 with a 1.4 extender on shooting from a helicopter. We didn't want to stress him out so we only made one loop around him and even with that he jumped and ran about 100 feet away from his bedding spot. I love seeing wildlife in their natural places.

Fun filled day

Today was an interesting day for me, I had a morning assignment at the Festival of Trees and just as I was walking out of that got a call sending me to a Trax train vs a mini van, after sending in those I got another call sending me to the helicopter hanger to got shoot an accident up near strawberry res. where an oil tanker had crashed and was burning. So here are a few from the day.

Chopper Sunset

I shot this a few days ago on a quick Helicopter flight up to the Morgan area.

5A Football Semifinal

This was a fun game tied at the end of regulation and down to a last ditch dive coming up short in overtime. Fremont defeated Syracuse to move onto the championship game.

Utah Natural History Museum

I was sent up to get some photos of the new Natural History Museum up at research park.
We have needed a new facility for many years and this place is amazing.
I completely enjoyed myself walking around and seeing what they have been able to do.

4A Football Semifinals

I was at the 4A Football Semifinals Logan vs Bountiful and Timpview vs East up on the hill.

End of the season

Passed this while driving around and decided to turn around and make a quick photo of it.
Hope you like it.
